Bendabout Farm hosts Georgia Chapter Pollination Workshop

With the Georgia Chapter beginning its first pollination season, Dr Hill Craddock of the Biological and Environmental Sciences Department of UTC, invited members to a workshop to learn proper techniques and what to look for when pollinating Georgia trees.

Not only did the chapter members take a tour of the orchards and learn more about the work being done there, they had hands-on experience emasculating the catkins, bagging florets and pollinating flowers that were receptive and rebagging.  Since protocol is so important in preserving the true American backcross line, this workshop proved invaluable for the new chapter.
