American Chestnuts Are Released on
Glassy Mountain
Tallulah Ranger District –
Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forests
and the
American Chestnut Foundation
On August 10, 2005, volunteers from the American
Chestnut Foundation and Forest Service personnel trimmed back shading
vegetation from American chestnut sprouts on Glassy Mountain,
Georgia.
Efforts were rained out at about 2 PM, but an
excellent start was made toward day lighting approximately 200
chestnut trees. Thanks to volunteer Jack Johnston and TACF interns
Simon Goldberg and Austin Wagner.
Plans are to continue work on this site and others in September. |
