"I
consider the breeding and restoration of blight resistant chestnut
trees in the United States to be one of the most interesting and
important scientific projects of our time. I hope that everyone will
join Rosalynn and me in supporting this effort, and in encouraging our
friends to participate actively."
Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter has
been a member of The American Chestnut Foundation since 1992 and has
served as an honorary member of the board of directors since 1995. Carter was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for "his
decades of untiring effort to find peaceful solutions to international
conflicts, to advance democracy and human rights, and to promote
economic and social development." |
